January 2010

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can not believe it is January 2010!!! Where have the last 10 years gone????

I think I need to slow down and enjoy life a little more.... Maybe you should too!!!

The club tournament for January was held at Falcon Lake on January 23rd & 24th 2010.

It was a very beautiful weekend with one exception and that was the wind was blowing out of the North again this year; however, the air temperatures were much more pleasing from 56-83 degrees. The water temps were 56-62 degrees.

The get togethers at Falcon Heights is always a good time; folks really relaxed and had a good time.

Some had a little more than others as there were a few that went swimming as I understand it. Thank God that Scott & Penny were near by along with another boat to help Brandon & Chuck get out of the water and get their boat and most all their stuff back to the launch. Hopefully, next trip for them will be less stressful along with tons of fish....

Fishing was real good for most folks who figured them out.

We had 13 members and 1 guest fish this tournament, total fish was 85, total weight was 242.24 lbs and the average fish weighed 2.85 lbs.

Saturday: Steve Doc Ingram led the way with 5 for 20.68 lbs. with a nice 7.24 lbs kicker, Bob Buchanan had the 2nd place stringer with 5 for 18.80 lbs with a nice 6.14 lbs kicker and Charles Parchman had 3rd place stringer with 16.56 lbs.

Sunday: Bob Buchanan led the way with 5 for 17.09 lbs stringer, 2nd place was Mike Wimberley with 5 fish for 15.51 lbs, & Steve Doc Ingram had 3rd place with 5 for 11.50 lbs.

President's note:

Welcome once again to Helotes Bass Club and I hope that we will have a great year of fishing. Feel free to call me at any time to discuss or cuss any matter concerning our bass club. This is OUR club and anything we have to say is there for the opening. Would you be interested in having a joint monthly tournament with another club? Example: challenging let's say SAPD to fish the same weekend tourney as ours, just like a mini-city tournament. We still keep our own results, but we weigh in at the same time and place. Just something to think about! Good luck and keep that line tight.

Felix

WARNING!!!!!!!!!

Mercury and Yamaha both agreed in writing in this past issue of Bassmasters magazine that the gasoline that we are receiving with the alcohol up to 10% is causing major problems in outboard motors. They highly recommend that you use a fuel treatment like Stabil Marine version to help keep you fuel fresh and limit the effect of alcohol attracting water. I have purchased the Stabil Marine formula and it is very reasonable if you follow the instructions it is not very expensive when you consider not doing anything and then have a problem with your motor...

Money Pot:
See Felix Huerta for the money pot.

Next Meeting:
February 11th at Bass Pro Shop upstairs in their meeting room at 7:00PM...

Newsletter Entries: If you would like something added to the newsletter; please send to me satroller@att.net as soon as possible after the tournaments as I am going to try and get the newsletter out each month within a week of the tournament.

See you at Choke Canyon,,
