The club tournament for April was held at Choke Canyon on April 10th & 11th 2010.

It was a very windy 20MPH+ on Saturday & Sunday it calmed down quite a bit. The air temperatures ranged from 56-79 degrees & the water temps were 69-71 degrees.

Fishing was pretty tough for most everybody except for our Pee Wee (Chase Adams) & Junior (Megan Roscoe) members who made a very good showing. Chase Adams our Pee Wee member had Big Bass for the tournament a nice 6.34lbs fish that he caught first thing on Sunday morning. I know everyone else would have loved to had that fish based upon how tough it was fishing wise...... I think Grandpa's chest was busting out of his shirt with pride......

We had 15 members that fished this tournament, total fish was 64, total weight was 114.12 lbs and the average fish weighed 1.78 lbs that's the second tournament this year at Choke and the fishing was tough both times???? Where did all the fish go???? We had only 6 limits for the weekend.....

Saturday: Richard Ball led the way with 5 for 12.12 lbs. Mike Roscoe had the 2nd place stringer with 5 for 12.06 lbs and Ngarm Ball had 3rd place stringer with 5 for 7.21lbs.

Sunday: Felix Huerta led the way with 5 for 8.24 lbs stringer, 2nd place was Mike Roscoe with 5 fish for 8.03 lbs, & Chase Adams had 3rd place with 1 for 6.34 lbs.

Notice: The May tournament & Club Picnic has been changed to Falcon Lake; the dates are May 1st & 2nd 2010. Weigh in will be at 300PM, club picnic after weigh in at Falcon Heights Hotel. May meeting will also be conducted during the tournament...

President's note:

I was hoping that Choke would be on fire in April, but boy was I wrong. Hitting 39 degrees in the am on Friday did not help one bit. The fish are confused as to should we spawn or not. When we can't get a big bass over 5lbs with the fishermen in our group and a kid catches a 6lbs.(way to go Chase), something is wrong.

Maybe the fishing will turn on at Falcon Lake. The club picnic will be held at Falcon Height due to the fact that they have a covered area to hold this event. There was a 3 to 1 tally in favor of this change per the tournament committee. Let’s try it and see, since it will our first time outside the San Antonio area. Good luck and let’s catch some bigger fish.
